The Houston Olde Boys Organization (HOBOs) is a group of active 35-years of age and Over ruggers originating from the Woodlands Rugby Football Club (WRFC) in The Woodlands, Texas; just north of the greater Houston metropolitan area. Formerly, the Houston Olde Boys were known as the Deadwoods and reemerged in 2011 playing several matches each year versus other 35-and Over sides in the region, senio
r men’s clubs, and competing in 10’s, 7’s, and Master’s tournaments as well. To grow our player base we have expanded our membership to include Olde Boys from the East Texas region, comprising our membership of players from various local and foreign clubs. We are always looking for a match and a party afterward. All new players are welcome regardless of experience. Players must be in their 35th year and must be willing to play fair and socialize! Whilst winning is important, we the Masters, like to embrace an ethos of the non- professional era with regards to the camaraderie and fun that perhaps is now missing from senior level rugby, whilst at the same time aspiring to be the best players we can possibly be and compete at the highest level.

If you momentarily lapse into yesteryear and carry desires of rumbling around the park enjoying the great game (at a slightly more sedate pace) we would love to hear from you. The reward of a few cold beers is never far away. We do not stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing. Never be the first to get old! It’s all about running around the field and having a great time with a beer and a BBQ thrown in. Games are usually 20 minute thirds and played in the spirit of “Everyone goes home in one piece” with unlimited substitutions – you can play for 5 or 10 minutes and then substitute off for some rest and recovery if needed. Providing continuing opportunities for players retired from regular "club" participation to travel and play at a competitive level on a variety of Old Boys, Masters and Social sides at tournaments, or on tours, across the country and around the world.
