A wise man once said, you can't change what you refuse to confront.

It's easy to get upset about something, but it's often difficult to have that hard conversation or tackle a seemingly difficult situation.

Every opportunity that we work with a couple, we discover that they will share certain issues that their spouse is hearing for the first time.

They've already talked about the surface issues, but lying beneath those were greater concerns that had never been dealt with.

There are always varying reasons for this. Sometimes the marriage no longer feels like a safe space to share emotions and to be vulnerable.

In other instances, inner healing needs to take place on a personal level so that individual spouses can give themselves permission to get what they desire and so on.

When they finally address their pain, they step into the possibility of getting their healing. Transformation always begins with a willingness to confront our dysfunction.

We know it's hard, just believe it's possible.

When you've experienced hurt and brokenness in your marriage, the hardest thing to do is put your heart back on the line again and chance another disappointment.

All you can think about is "what's the point anyway? It's not like things are going to change. I've tried before. What will make the next time any different?"

Those thoughts eventually become a place of comfort for our inaction and leave us stuck in our relationship.

We can only get the results in life that we believe, thus our negative thoughts end up becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.

As believers, we know the Bible says all things are possible to those that believe, but we often limit the hand of God with our unbelief concerning our marriage.

You're breakthrough starts with the thoughts you believe. There will still be a journey ahead that must be taken to bring your relationship into full restoration, but believing again must come first.

We will all face issues in our relationships, but there are some factors that make existing issues feel even worse.

We've had the opportunity to work with lots of couples, and we've heard a common thread of issues that intensify problems in relationships.

On a personal level, we've dealt with all of these as well at some point or another, and we'd like to share them to bring some awareness to other marriages.
