Portraits of a runner.

Every athlete has a story; every season writes a new chapter.

The marks racing leaves behind are both seen and unseen – fitness and fatigue, belief and mental breakthroughs.

This year’s Golden Trail season is finished, but the lessons learned will remain.

Squad strength on the golden stage

As the men took to the start line of the Golden Trail World Series Grand Finale, the 무주 트레일 MUJU TRAIL | GTWS 🇰🇷 course was blanketed in fog, adding mystique to an already unprecedentedly challenging course. But the Salomon squad embraced the unknown, posting a stellar set of results.

Timo Kibett led the charge with a fine 3rd place for his first podium this year. Putting his fierce descending skills to good use, Joey Hadorn closely followed Timo home in 4th, firmly cementing his return to the trails in style.

For most of the race, Samwel Kiprotich and Nashon Kiplimo were locked into a close battle for the top-10. Passing and repassing the athletes around them on the narrow, forested trails, they ended 8th and 10th respectively.

Amongst a very strong field, Jonas Soldini (13th), Ezekiel Rutto (16th) and Ryu Omi (19th) all battled hard and closed their seasons with top-20 finishes. Fabián Venero unfortunately had to step out of the race but will be set his eyes on a strong start to 2027 season.

Timo Kibett takes third at the 무주 트레일 MUJU TRAIL | GTWS 🇰🇷 Golden Trail World Series Finale!

Coming into today’s race, Timo had finished inside the top-6 in each of his four GTWS races, but today, on the season’s biggest stage, he finally claimed the podium position he’d been craving. “I know my weaknesses, so I leaned even more on my strengths today,” he said.

A season of racing teaches athletes more than fitness; it teaches them about themselves.

Congratulations, Timo.

No rain to stop this parade.

The 무주 트레일 MUJU TRAIL | GTWS 🇰🇷 Golden Trail World Series course posed a new challenge to the athletes, mixing brutally challenging descents with scrambling uphills unlike any other race this season. It was an incredible day for the Salomon women: led by Andrea Kolbeinsdottir’s victory, Barbora Bukovjan claimed 5th and Caroline Kimutai finished 8th.

For Barbora, it marks three occasions where she has been in the GTWS too-5 ch*****ne shower this year and brings her up to fourth in the season rankings. Caroline went out hard to challenge for the series win, ultimately taking 8th place in the race. Alone it was another strong performance for a runner who typically prefers faster trails, and secures Caroline a silver medal in the series standings.

All three women will take the lessons from the year into the winter where they’ll continue refining their craft into future seasons.

Andrea Kolbeinsdottir wins the Golden Trail World Series Finale at Muju Trail!

In the lead-up to the race, Andrea’s excitement for this steep, technical course was very clear and as the conditions deteriorated into rain overnight, things promised to get even more challenging. Instead of shy away, she played on her strengths, starting conservatively on the opening climbs before closing gaps with her fearless descending. Racing toe-to-toe with the overall series leader, her grit showed as she pulled away on the final big climb to claim the crown.

Congratulations, Andrea.

The season’s golden hour.

This weekend, some of the world’s best short trail athletes will descend on the Deogyusan National Park in South Korea to race the 무주 트레일 MUJU TRAIL | GTWS 🇰🇷 for the culmination of their season: the Golden Trail World Series Grand Finale.

Just as the trail traces the mountain, the season etches its story into the athlete – as they race, they learn and evolve. The athletes here at Muju are those that have gone through the whole Golden Trail season: the top-30 runners that have raced shoulder to shoulder across the world, ready for one final test over the 28km course. We don’t know the outcomes yet, but what we do know is that this race will ask them to give their all one last time.

Proven on the global stage: S/LAB Phantasm 3 SC.

Honed for our elite road athletes, we’ve crafted an even lighter shoe: a new featherweight upper with a streamlined fit and the same hyper-fast ride.

Matthias Kyburz will be racing in the S/LAB Phantasm 3 SC this week at Lucerne Half Marathon. Where will they take your performance?

Running constantly asks questions of us: Can you keep going? How much are you willing to endure? But what happens when running becomes a way to help us answer questions about life?

In the latest film on Salomon TV, GO by Jack Hare, documents how Go Miyazaki turned the devastating loss of a friend, and the subsequent questions it forced him to ask himself, into a mission to help others.

Taking the testing lab outside.

Robin Juillaguet’s days are spent constantly thinking about running, performance and optimizing the gear needed for the toughest trails. But unlike those surrounding him who do this as professional athletes, Robin does it as part of his career in the Salomon HQ Product Testing team.

Yesterday, he combined his expertise with months of hard training to produce a sublime 2nd place on the famously gruelling terrain of Diagonale Des Fous. In running, everyone gets a shot to challenge for the podium. Robin shows us that we shouldn’t be afraid to take that shot.
