If I could write a letter to my younger self this is what it would be.
Younger girls reading this: I pray you read this and believe every word you resonate with.
Life doesn’t get easier but you WILL get stronger.
Here it goes.
Dear younger Loryn,
You will grow muscles. You’ll have enough of being bullied. You’ll have enough of not being fast enough to make the track relay teams. And your body will mature. (So much so you get addicted to working out and the results. People even call you manly! Ha! Imagine that)
All of the girls who are chasing boys, will stop playing sports. You will live out your dream because you are dedicating everything to it. You’ll even miss prom to workout in the gym (and you won’t regret it😂)
You won’t quit basketball even though you have thoughts about it.
Actually, the sport will change your entire life. The sport will lead you to the weight room permanently where you will guide others and transform peoples’ lives. You will make a real difference. 🥺😳
It won’t perfect.. Your anxiety will worsen as you get older… this is just the beginning. But at the age of 28 you will be able to handle it. It will no longer be debilitating. You will have negative thoughts. You will want to quit. BUT YOU WON’T. And for this, God will give you EVERYTHING in the right time…
A bit of advice…
1. Staying up all night won’t change the outcome of your basketball game.
2. Dimming your light won’t make people like you more.
3. Being quiet is not a bad thing, it’s actually your strength. You will one day wish you had that same patience.
4. Vices will not save you and running from your problems will only prolong the pain.
5. What happens around you does not define you. You will see more than you should… but you will have a drive only you can have from your experiences.
You will “make it”. You will do everything you said you would and more.
You will build a brand, a team, and meet some of the most amazing people EVER.
You will have a positive space on social media where you connect with kind people and make friends with people who support you. Just keep moving frwrd baby girl!!!!
I’m proud of you.
