Twin Oaks Aikido Houston

Twin Oaks Aikido Houston This school is dedicated to training mind, heart, and body to work together.

Twin Oaks Aikido started as a group of Aikido friends picking up the pieces of their training after the pandemic by meeting in Spotts Park under a couple of oak trees. The dojo is now located inside the Gymnast Factory in Rice Village on Monday and Wednesday evenings (Friday mornings at 5:30 in Hermann Park in front of the reflecting pool). Under the leadership of head instructor Karen Vargas (4th

dan), and fellow Twin Oaks Aikido LLC members Pam Mencin (2nd dan) and Ann-Michele Bowlin (1st dan), our dojo's goals are to teach and improve our own selves through Aikido and enjoy social activities with our supportive community. The dojo is known for it's high number of dan ranked Aikidoka who assist in the teaching, the high number of non-U.S.-born members, and the strong friendships that are formed.
