Is Jesus Really Enough in Singleness? (a thread) 🧵

In my experience as a coach, nothing challenges (and sometimes irks) young, single women more than telling them that Jesus Christ MUST be enough as a foundation BEFORE any relationship leading to marriage.

It feels as if their desire for love and the embrace of a man are being negated. But this is not the case. It's just that you can't build *anything* on sand.

I was well into my marriage when I realized my skewed view of Christ as the source of my peace and identity was about to cost me everything.

Don't go that direction.

Think like a citizen of heaven and not like the world and it will make sense.

My prayer for you is that you find genuine satisfaction in Christ and yourself, and that it compliments your relationships. I strongly believe that as women of God—we must first be filled and led by the Holy Spirit, who teaches us how to love others and ourselves in a healthy way.

It’s time we shift our eyes from idolizing marriage itself and understand the One who makes us equipped for marriage - Jesus

Make these simple shifts in your thinking to get yourself better aligned with God for the future marriage you desire.

👉🏾 Prepare (don't wait): When making ourselves marketable in the workplace—we don't wait for opportunities! We take courses or internships, polish our resumés, get interview-ready, and apply to jobs. You prepare for the occupation you seek. Do you want to be a wife? Own it and walk it out with God.

👉🏾 Believe (don't hope): You need to believe that God loves you, has your best interest in mind and will *actually* bless you with a spouse because He want you to have a family too. Faith is an expensive currency! But double-minded prayers are like counterfeit dollars. God does not answer faithless prayers. (James 1:6-7)

👉🏾 Intercede (don't think): Many women I talk to admit they've never prayed about marriage or stopped because they gave up. Yet marriage is on their minds all day long! Thinking quickly turns into obsession and idolization. Instead, get that Bible and partner with Heaven. God's intention will manifest from a place of intimacy with Jesus. (Phil 4:6)

👉🏾 Embody (don't practice): Wife-like qualities should be who you really are. Not a front you put on to secure a relationship. Don't just learn to cook or pray. *Become* a nurturer and lover of Jesus by exposing yourself to godly principles and other women of faith.

I hope this helps you! You're going to succeed in marriage and singlehood will be a season you look back on with fond memories of the lessons God taught you.

Has the message to love Jesus more than your desire for a husband went south for you as you seek marriage? Daughter, you must stop to check your heart the moment the call to intimacy becomes inflammatory. It may be time to take this to God and go deeper.

Resentment can come from feeling like:

• You're already pursuing God with all you've got, yet marriage is not happening.

• You'll never be as 'spiritual' as the girls that got their husbands.

• Married Christian women don't understand 'it's not that simple.'

• God doesn't promise marriage to anyone anyway.

• "lt doesn't take all that." (it does 🫣)

Your feelings are yours. But they can be flawed and deceptive — keeping you from understanding your GOD who *gives* the promise and orders your steps for good. At a heart-level, stay focused on Christ while on your journey to godly marriage. 💡
