All fall I’ve seen so many couples getting engaged and married & it makes me so happy and excited for them. Marriage done right is a powerful force. Who you choose for your spouse determines and influences so many things in your life while flourishing in your own identity.
Simon and I are celebrating our first major milestone this week having our 5 year marriage anniversary. It wasn’t always easy but to say it has been worth it is the obvious understatement. If you care enough to work at it and get it right then 1+1=10.
Put the work in early; see a marriage counselor a couple times so y’all know how to communicate when s**t hits the fan. Because it will from time to time. Learning how to walk through the fire together stronger and wiser is one of the ultimate blessings; don’t miss it.
Don’t miss your blessings; because they come in the form of flaws and disagreements when really they are opportunities to understand and connect.
It wasn’t until I was 30 that I married (mostly bc I thought I wasn’t marriage material). It has been the smoothest, most volatile, beautiful and roughest road. I laugh looking back at my 20’s and early 30’s already feeling like I’d lived two lives. I pray the same for you; that it’s not perfect but the flaws are treated with tenderness, respect and dignity for one another at all times.
Let character and strength manifest. Never drop your f integrity.
It’s not easy at first but it’s y’all against the world.
