On, 03/27/2024 the Michigan State Police Calumet post is participating in a statewide fundraising event. This event is open to the public.
The purpose of this event/memorial workout is to raise money for Trooper Joel Popp’s family and MSTAF. Trooper Joel E. Popp passed away after being struck by a vehicle while on a traffic stop. Trooper Popp began his career with the Michigan State Police in 2020, graduating as a member of the 137th Trooper recruit school. Trooper Popp is the 56th MSP officer to die in the line of duty.
The Michigan State Troopers Assistance Fund (MSTAF) is a nonprofit charitable organization. MSTAF aids law enforcement families affected by tragedies and supports other charities and charitable events throughout Michigan.
WHEN – Wednesday, March 27th, 2024
TIME – Two sessions, one at 4:30 PM and second at 5:30 PM
WHERE – CrossFit Hakkapeliitta, 909 Evergreen Dr, Houghton, MI 49931
Ways to participate:
You can join us in the workout. Each session will last approximately an hour. The workout can be scaled to various fitness/skill levels. The workout will consist of; 137 seconds of silence, 31-minute AMRAP (As Many Reps as Possible), 1-muscle up, 24-push-ups, 24-box step-ups, and a 1779-meter row. For participation in the work out you must be 18 years of age or older and complete a waiver.
If you do not want to participate in the workout but still want to help, you can donate to Tpr. Popp’s family or MSTAF using the provided QR. You can show up and support your local law enforcement, where troopers will be available to meet, talk with, and learn more about the Michigan State Police.
