Thank you, Coach White and Jessieville Golf! We were happy to help. Wishing the Lions a great season—we’ll be cheering you on!

The Jessieville golf team put some work in after having to cancel practice due to the heat. A special thanks to Scott Sowerbutts at Village Golf Performance Center for letting us get some swings on their simulators.

Golf season is quickly approaching. The Lions will host their first match August 6th at Cortez Golf Course with a 2pm start. They will host Perryville, Bigelow, and Baptist Prep. There is high expectations for both groups as they return everybody from last years 6th place finish at state.

Coach Jared White had this to say, “The kids have worked really hard this summer. We started in June and have worked our way up to plying 18 holes. Our girls are already shooting better than they finished the season last year. Our boys have had some impressive rounds as well. They are well ahead of where they finished last year.”

Short Game Friday: Speed control on longer putts is a must! Try this drill next time you play. Find a place on the practice putting green where you have a 30-foot uphill and 30-foot downhill putt, place a tee or divot tool on each end, and putt back and forth, dialing in your distance control both uphill and downhill. The goal isn’t to get every putt past the tee; the goal is to have less than a foot to the “hole.” Less 3-putts is step 1 to lower scores, and occasionally, if you’re always around the hole, some of those putts drop!
