Horton Sport Shooting Complex The Horton Sport Shooting Complex is a shooting range with a 100 yard rifle range and a 50 yard pistol range. The fee is $5.00 per day, per person.

Funding was made available in 2003 with a grant from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, in cooperation with the City of Horton and substantial help from the Army National Guard to provide a safe shooting range for the public. Providing handicap facilities such as paved sidewalks, ramps and restrooms, the Complex is suited for anyone desiring to practice their shooting skills and abilitie

s. The shooting range is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the first, third and fifth Sundays of each month. The fee is waived for youth organizations. Anyone interested in shooting by appointment will need to contact the Horton Police Department at 785-486-2694. A Range Safety Officer will need to be present to ensure all rules are closely adhered to. Specific guidelines for use have been established by Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

Due to low turnout and availability of RSOs, the board has decided to not have the range open on the 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month. We will only be open the 1st Sunday of each month for the foreseeable future.

We will continue to evaluate this decision and make changes to the schedule as needed.

The range will open this Sunday, April 2nd, at 10 am. Closes at 4 pm, earlier if no one is there to shoot.

Sunday, October 31st will be the free deer rifle sight in day. The pistol side will be closed.

This Sunday, Oct. 18th, will be the free deer rifle sight in day. The pistol side of the range will be closed so focus can be given to sighting in rifles. This will also be the last day that the range will be open this year. Thanks!

Due to the COVID-19 virus and the statewide Stay At Home Order, the range will not be open until further notice.

Our free deer rifle sight in day will be Sunday, September 29th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

We will have the range open on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month starting on May 5th from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.. We will also be opening the range on the last Thursday of the month from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Due to the first Sunday in April being Easter Sunday, the range will not open until the third Sunday, April 15th.
