Course Agronomy
Monday September 19
Blue Lake Golf Course Superintendent Jamie Kizer is overseeing chemical application on the golf course September 19.
The spraying is to start eliminating unwanted vegetation in the fairways and on tees. The spray is applied on 25 to 30 acres.
In addition to killing the goose grass and Kyllinga, the chemical will stress the Bermuda grass in the fairways and on tees.
You will see some temporary browning (stressing) of the Bermuda grass.
In addition to chemical application, a contractor will be repairing sprinkler heads throughout the golf course. This is part of our ongoing effort to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our aging irrigation system. This work will go a long way toward improving the maintenance of the golf course.
The golf course will remain open for play, but you may have to skip a hole during play to avoid the agronomy activity (you can go back and play the hole).
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to improve the Blue Lake Golf Course. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Gary D Parsons, PGA at the pro shop or by telephoning 830-598-5524.
