Missouri Mallards offers premium waterfowling at a reasonable price that's different from most outfitters. Instead of a canned, very commercial hunt, we strive for a "hunting with your buddies" experience. You'll be hunting with us...just like we hunt any other day. You'll be hunting over Higdon decoys which are the BEST on the market and you'll get to see some awesome dog work as well. We adjust
locations to the conditions in order to give you the best chance at a great hunt. If you've been disappointed with an outfitter in the past, give us a try. We'll make you a repeat customer! $250 per day per person. F.A.Q's
As dates continue to fill up, and people are getting excited, several questions have come up in conversations repeatedly. I'll answer a few, but if you have other, don't hesitate to post, call, message, mail, or send a pigeon. We will do our absolute best to get the answer you need!
1, Where do I need to stay? Elk Chute Lodge (on Facebook) is first class and very convenient while offering the lodge type atmosphere where you will be staying with other duck hunters and enjoying amenities not offered by hotels. Kennett, Blytheville, and Hayti all have rooms. If you are looking for a nice room, I would suggest the Hampton in Blytheville. Otherwise, most are just fine for some guys on a duck hunt.
2. Licenses?? If you are a non-resident, you will need to purchase the non-resident waterfowl license @ $6, and the daily non resident small game @ $11. If you are hunting with us more than one day, the second and so on, you will only need the daily small game. You also must have a federal duck stamp. Licenses are available online https://mdc-web.s3licensing.com/ or in person at the walmart in Kennett.
****** Do not procrastinate on your licenses*******
Plan on having to provide proof of hunter's education when purchasing. Here is a list of exemptions.
-You are 15 years or younger and will be hunting with a properly permitted adult mentor 18 years of age or older.
-You were born before Jan. 1, 1967.
-You are 16 or older and have purchased an Apprentice Hunter Authorization and will be hunting with a properly permitted adult mentor 18 years of age or older. You can purchase the apprentice license for $10 if you cannot produce proof of your hunter education.
3. Gear?? Most of our hunts will be in rice fields pits. You will not have to wade and you can hunt in knee boots. You can expect to shoot predominantly ducks, but it's likely that you will have an opportunity on specks and/or snows as well. 3" 2 shot is always a good bet on ducks and will take a speck, but i would suggest BB's or BBB's for geese. BB's or 1's would be the logical compromise. Rain gear if conditions warrant. Sunglasses aren't a terrible idea either.
4. Food. We will provide a hot breakfast, cooked in the pit as well as snacks and waters.
5. I will touch base with each of you as your date gets close and we'll nail down meeting places and any other issues we need to deal with. No one has asked, but absolutely no alcohol in the field. If you show up hungover, act irresponsibly, or unsafe, you will be taken to the truck responsible for the balance of your hunt cost with no refund. We always have a great time, and I want everyone to be excited and able to come back again.
