This week we are spotlighting Hammerhead swimmer, Augustin Bon! 🏊‍♂️

Augustin has been an all-star swimmer this year, breaking the 8 and Under Boys 25 Freestyle record multiple times. He's not done though, he still has the opportunity to swim even faster at the NYS Championship Meet.

He is also qualified to swim the 25 breaststroke and 50 freestyle. We are so proud and looking forward to watching him swim against the top swimmers in NYS! Good luck Augustin! We are all rooting for you!

JULIA NECZAJ is this week's Spotlight Swimmer!! 🏊‍♀️🏅

Julia has been with us for the long haul, starting back in July with our summer swim camp. She had her heart set on states since day #1 and has worked tirelessly to get to where she is today. I'm not sure we have created a practice that is "hard enough" for her yet, though.

She will be competing at the NY State Championship Meet for 8 & Under Girls in the 25 freestyle, 25 backstroke, and 25 breaststroke. We wish you the best of luck! Keep up the hard work, Julia!!

Phew, these Hammerhead swimmers have been busy! 😅

Last week they competed at the 'Last Chance' Meet in Canandaigua. This meet provided an opportunity for swimmers to race one last time before the end of their season. They also competed in a Time Trial event giving swimmers a final opportunity to qualify for the state competition.

Highlights included:
🏊‍♀️Julia Necaj's state cut and record breaking swim in the 25 yd Breaststroke, Backstroke and Freestyle
🏊‍♂️Josh Kocan's state cut and record breaking swim in the 100 yd Butterfly and 200 Indivdual Medley
🏊‍♂️Augustin Bon's state cut and record breaking swim in the 25 yd Freestyle and state cut in the 25 yd Breaststroke
🏊‍♀️ Mallory McCumiskey's state cut in the 25 yd Breaststroke

Cadence Garcia is our Spotlight Swimmer this week! 🏊‍♀️🌊

Cadence is one of our youngest swimmers on the team. She is the bravest when it comes to trying new and scary things and constantly reminding us (coaches included) that "we can do hard things". Cadence- we are so proud of how far you have come since our first practices this summer. Keep up the hard work!!

A small, but mighty "littles" team competed this weekend at the 10 and Under District Championship Meet in Gates-Chili. 💪🌊

Highlights are as follows-

Top 3 finishes from:
Mallory McCumiskey in the 100IM (2nd place)
Josie Garcia in the 50 Fly (2nd place)
Laini Miller in the 50 Breaststroke (3rd place)
100 Medley Relay of Leah Hitesman, Laini Miller, Mallory McCumisky and Ella Klosterman (2nd place)
100 Free Relay of Cadence Garcia, Laini Miller, Ella Klosterman and Mallory McCumiskey (2nd place)

Top 10 finishes from:
Mallory McCumiskey in the 50 Free (6th place)
Laini Miller in the 25 Backstroke (8th place)

Our season wraps up next weekend with our "Last Chance" meet. A last chance to race this season and a last chance to qualify for our NYS meet on Long Island in March.

Jo Garcia everyone!!

This girl has done it all this season! She started small with 50 free and 50 back but just braved the 100 Individual Medley and 50 Butterfly at our District Championship meet. She puts her mind to something and is completely unstoppable! We love this in our athletes! Great job this season Jo, we are so proud of how far you have come!!

Up next, is none other than, Ben Bell!

Ben is part of our Boys 8 and Under team. He shows up for practice everyday excited to see his teammates and learn something new. He keeps his coaches on their toes with his jokes and wit. This year he started racing breaststroke and working on his butterfly in practice. There is nothing too hard for this kid!

Some of our "big" kids competed at District Championships this weekend.

Congrats to Owen Carroll for top 10 finishes in all events- 50 free, 50 back and 50 breast!🏊‍♂️

Josh Kocan finished 5th in the 50 free with a state qualifying time and took 1st in the 100 fly with a new team record! 🏅

Our "littles" will compete at District Championships this coming weekend. Good luck and stay tuned!

🌊Augustin Bon qualified for states in the 25 breaststroke
🌊Julia Neczaj (already qualified for states) re-broke her record in the 25 breaststroke
🌊Mallory McCumiskey qualified for states and broke the record in the 100IM
🌊The relay team of Laini Miller, Julia Neczaj, Mallory McCumisky and Ella Klosterman broke the 100 Medley Relay record

We've got "big kids" on the team, too!

Josh Kocan is our Spotlight Swimmer this week!

We admire Josh for his ability to balance swimming for the Hornell Red Raiders High School Team and finding time to be part of the Hammerhead Swim Team. Josh is already qualified for the state meet this year! As he enters his championship season, for both teams, we wish him the best of luck and are rooting for some lifetime fastest swims! 💪🌊
