Just saw site plans submitted by Memphis Dragway LLC to Shelby County code enforcement.
Some of it i like and some not so much.
The entire area between the 3/4 and Victory Ln is designated fan parking.
The dirt track is being built north of the 3/4 along the property line.
Previous post suggest it will be 5/16th.
There will be pit stall for 83 haulers.
Grandstands will be along the east side.
Between the grandstands and the front straight will be a dirt pulling track.
This will put the grandstands. back a piece from the dirt track racing surface.
Question will be how far.
Riverside grandstands are right next to surface, while Lakeland Speedbowl had a staging lane between the grandstands and track.
When the 1/2 was converted to 3/8th they kept back stretch in place and moved the front stretch back away from grandstands.
So we've had tracks up against grandstands and tracks with space between grandstands and track.
The plans shown an amphitheater north east of the strips return road.
Personally i believe it is unneeded and be better used to build an extension to the return road for a road course that would by pass the strip.
By the time DMMSP reopens we will have close 80,000 venue seats for concerts in the Memphis metro area.
And that is not including the potential reopening of the Mud Island amphitheater.
Especially since the way it was explained that it will be no permanent seating.
