(8/31/2023)

Hello GHRPC Members.
Thought I would give you an update on the projects at the range. Tomorrow, Friday September 1st,
Officers will be working on a couple of range projects. First one will be to replace the 100 yard target boards on the upper range. This should only take about 45 minutes to do. Plan is to start about 8:30 or so. We will shut down the upper range for just a little while. We will let shooters know before we actually start so they will have time to rack their guns and collect their targets.
Next project is to move to the lower range and sink the posts in front of the new section of shooting berm. Lower outside range will be shut down for several hours for this. The inside range will remain open.
Deans Excavation has given us a date for poring the concrete slab extension, September 13th. We are adding about 16ft to each side of the existing slab, giving us more outside shooting stations. I do not know when Dean plans to construct the forms but after he does we need to to take extra care not to disturb his work.
Please write that date down, September 13th, lower range will be closed all day. If plans change I will send another update
Thank You, have a safe holiday
Riley Morris

Roy gave the club notice of range closures for repairs and maintenance. The range was closed Friday, 7/21/23 & 7/23/23 from 9 am-until work was finished on both days. The 50-yard upper range is closed until the closure signs are removed. Targets, boards and post will be replaced. Roy also gave instructions regarding the sign up for recreation and lease lands. There is NO HUNTING in the park or the range.

Riley gave notice of misprints in the member handbook on pages 17 line 13. There should be a comma after 22 caliber rifle and on line 18, after word “premises”, it should read “because of unsafe range practices”. If a member is practicing unsafe shooting, a member is allowed to ask them to leave the range and the unsafe member MUST leave. Riley/Roy must be contacted immediately afterwards, to address the problem. He reminded members that it is not advisable to shoot any closer than 25 ft. in the inside range. He also requested members to limit their non-family guests to two.

(8/1/2023)

Good afternoon members of the GHRPC

Please note: Necessary policy changes to take effect immediately.

Recently, July 23rd, we had volunteers perform work on the upper range. We increased the size of the 50-yard berm, dug post holes and rebuilt the target board holders and boards that were shot out last year by some knuckle heads.

Today, I was contacted by a member informing me that someone had placed several 45 caliber shots into the new 4X4’s holding the plywood. The empty brass lying on the ground just several feet from the post. One shot I can understand but when there are several, it’s vandalism.

Three weeks ago, I noticed that someone, who was shooting from inside the range from the shooting windows, had shot several holes through one of the shooting tables on the outside slab. Almost destroying it. This also is vandalism.

Over the last 12 years, volunteers have spent countless weeks rebuilding the range into something the members can be proud to belong to and enjoy. The vandalism has got to stop!

You may have noticed the new camera system that is installed in the range. These are not dummy cameras. They record all the time anyone is in view. They were not put there to spy on you, but to see if someone is destroying the range.

At the GHR&PC monthly membership meetings Roy and I mention several times during each meeting that if you accidentally damage something and we are notified, we will just fix it and there is no problem. If we find damage, then it’s considered an act of vandalism.

Now to the policy changes:

Shooters will no longer be allowed to shoot across any bench or table other than the one they are using. I know this will be a problem with the far right shooting station in the indoor range. That spot will be acceptable.

If you are caught, either by camera or in person, shooting across a table, a range officer will ask you, either at the range or residence, to forfeit your key and card and be banned from the club forever. If you wish to contest this action, the officers will hold a special board meeting for you to state your case.

These measures apply to any act of vandalism.

The second policy change is that ALL members must attend at least one meeting a year before being allowed to renew their membership. There is always a sign in sheet at our meetings. Before renewing, you will be asked which meeting you attended? You must remember because we will not look it up for you.

The officers are sorry to implement these policy changes. Most of our members are trustworthy, but there are a few trying to destroy our range.

Thank you for your adherence to these updated policies.

Riley Morris

President
