Phoenix Martial Arts Massachusetts is now part of TMI Self Defense in Hopedale, MA. We now have classes for all types of students, children, teens, women and adults. Our school is located at 60 Mellen Street in Hopedale Massachusetts (just over the railroad tracks). Our facility has state of the art matted floors, clean bathrooms, a comfy waiting and parent viewing area. Phoenix Program Class Time

I’ve been a little quiet on Social Media lately, maybe not a bad thing, but this was worth posting. I had the pleasure of attending Sabonim Ron Ortla’s teacher’s seminar on Saturday, Master Bunsong Seng at . I initially went to show gratitude for Sabonim Ron, because he always lets us use the school for my teacher’s yearly seminar, and he attends that as well. However, I wasn’t expecting to learn so much. Master Seng was unbelievable, his feel and depth of knowledge of so many different arts was incredible. He even taught me some Silat techniques and drills…..seriously! Once I felt his energy, I knew he was the real deal “Holyfield”. Congrats to all who attended, it was great to train with you. Congrats to Shawn on earning his blackbelt!!! And for not missing the boards !!!!

A year ago, with increased commitments to my family needing more of my time, and low attendance, I made the executive decision to postpone our Tuesday Evening JKD class, and it was 💯 the right move for me. But Sifu Jon is bringing it back starting tonight, 8pm JKD is back. He has been with me 13 years around now, and has been a rock at our school. Now it’s time to see him hone his teaching skills! Any active Phoenix MA student can come take this class regardless of what membership plan you have for the rest of 2025!

Help me congratulate our 2 new black sashes, John C and Steve. Both started training shortly after me coming to tmi_self_defense, almost 10 years ago! Both had overcome injuries and other obstacles and still consistently made it to train. They both have showed tremendous growth and increase in skill. They have made training a lifestyle choice! And they make our small group so much better. Congrats, your journey is just beginning!

The dust is still settling from the weekend’s seminar and event. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that this year‘s seminar was the best. Maybe it was the material that Sifu Greg Pichardo covered or maybe we were just ready to receive it and understand it at a deeper level. Thank you Sabonim Ron Ortla and TMI Self Defense for hosting us again. Thank you also to the many people who traveled near and far for this opportunity. I sincerely appreciate it, looking forward to the future.
