That soreness two days after camp has a name. It's called DOMS [Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness], and it is not a sign you did something wrong. It's a sign that your body is adapting and getting stronger.
Here's what's actually happening:
When you work a muscle in a way it isn't used to, you create small amounts of stress in the fibers. Your body responds by repairing them and building them back a little stronger. The soreness you feel is that repair process, not injury. It tends to show up about a day later, peak around the 48 hour mark, then ease off on its own.
And here is what you need to know π The more you show up, the less it hits.
Your muscles adapt to the work, so the movements that wrecked you in week two barely register a month from now. That is real progress, and you can feel it happening.
β οΈ General soreness is normal. π Sharp pain, joint pain, or anything that gets worse instead of better is NOT. If something feels off, tell your trainer. Reading that difference is exactly what they are there for.
So if you're sore today, you are not behind. You are adapting which means you are getting stronger. π Keep showing up.
