Does your daughter have too many voices in her head? Does she seem to be getting more confused or less sure of herself? Do you see her hesitating, thinking too much, tensing up, or trying too hard?
Maybe you can relate to what that feels like too m.
Today, I saw a friend of mine post this about her business …
“I’m getting back to the core … I realized I had too many voices in my ear … And slowly but surely, the results are showing.”
Most of the voices our athletes have in their ear or in our head are genuinely aiming to help.
That doesn’t mean it doesn’t get overwhelming in the process. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t sometimes unintentionally …
😕 increase uncertainty
😣 interfere with performance
🥴 create doubt or confusion
… or undermine the very confidence we are trying to help them build.
With all the well meaning input your daughter gets throughout the day …
From teachers, friends, coaches, heck … even from social media …
Does she have time and space to simply sit with the CORE of who she is? So she can get to know that CORE?
No outside voices. Just hers.
So that, like my friend, they can reconnect with it, tap back into it, learn to train and play from their own strengths instead of trying to chase down every new tip which can unintentionally pull them away from who they are and how they play best.
If your daughter seems to be hesitating, unsure, overcomplicating, or freezing instead of just playing … she may need this more than any new drill or extra practice session.
If we want our kids (and our teams) to have a strong foundation so they are not pushed and pulled all over the place when adversity comes along, we need to give them ways to get to know who they are, to get to know what works for them, to give them ways to SEE their own progress so they can firmly believe in what THEY are capable of.
This is why I do what I do for you. This is why I create what I create for athletes rather than offer you the latest bat or fancy piece of training equipment.
Because all of that means nothing without a strong core and connection to that core.
Just as my friend is beginning to see the results of her efforts, that’s what I want for you daughter/team. For them to see and feel the results, in stronger and stronger ways, as they continue to do the work within THEMSELVES (not just within their sport).
They already put in so much time and effort into what they do. Let’s make sure it counts for as much as it possibly can💞
