Great week at Spring Break Camp in Hawaiʻi. ⚽️🌴

We worked on footwork, moves, and confidence on the ball, and it was awesome to see players start using their skills more in scrimmages.

Soccer is about way more than just what happens on the grass.

At I Got Skills Hawaii, we’re firm believers that the lessons learned on the pitch stay with a player long after the final whistle. That’s why we focus on The Character Coach approach. It’s not just about the technical drills: though we definitely put in the work there: it’s about teaching kids to believe in themselves.

Coach Jason, Coach Beau, and the rest of our team want every player to walk away from Kapiolani Park feeling like they can tackle any challenge, whether that’s a tough match or a project at school. We love seeing kids from all over the world come here and find that spark of confidence that changes how they carry themselves. We’re building the person, not just the player.

Spring break is right around the corner and we’re getting ready for our favorite week of the season at Kapiolani Park.

At I Got Skills, it’s about way more than just the footwork. Coach Jason Popkin and our staff focus on building up that inner confidence and character that players carry with them long after they leave the pitch. Whether your child is just starting out or looking to sharpen their club-level skills, we create an environment where they can really thrive and have fun.

We’ll be out in the sun, working hard, and making sure every player leaves the field feeling better than when they arrived. It’s the perfect way to keep them active and growing during the break.

There’s more to soccer camp than just drills and footwork. The heart of I Got Skills Hawaii is the way our coaches encourage, and lead by example: on and off the field.

It’s not just about learning a killer pass or perfecting your shot. It’s watching a shy camper step up to lead a team huddle for the first time. It’s the high fives and pep talks after tough moments. It’s seeing players look out for each other and celebrate progress, not just goals.

Our coaches know that the skills kids carry with them: like confidence, discipline, and respect: matter just as much as soccer smarts. We’re here to help every player grow as a teammate and as a person.

That’s what makes our camp so special.

Letting kids play rock-paper-scissors to pick captains is more than just fun: it’s our way to grow leaders. By mixing up who wears the captain’s band, everyone gets a shot at stepping up, making decisions, and learning how to guide their team. It’s all about creating space for every camper to build confidence and try out leadership in their own way. Rotating captains means everyone gets to experience the responsibility, the teamwork, and the little wins (plus a few lessons) that come with leading.

We want kids to discover how awesome it feels to inspire and support each other: on and off the field.
