Many years ago Professor Nick Alcoran from IJJ West spoke to me about this impressive girl that had came and trained at their location - he mentioned her accolades and pedigree of Wrestling & Judo on the World stage - shortly after he brought her and her Ohana to IJJHQ and I had the honor of grappling with her as well - after our training and watching the documentary “Winning Girl” (if you haven’t seen it you NEED to!) I knew she was something extraordinary & special - since those days (hundreds of rolls later) Teshya has become an IBJJF World Champion, ADCC Champion, as well as countless other titles (F2W, Submission Battleground, etc) - in addition to those titles she has become a phenomenal instructor as well for kids,teens,& adults - world renown as “the girl in the red singlet” she continues to inspire our keiki and island in it’s entirety - Teshya is a Superstar - Stunt Girl in the movies (Lilo & Stitch, Chief Of War, etc) she can do it all - we are stoked and proud to present her today as IJJ’s 1st Female Black Belt EVER - her devotion to her Ohana and Faith in GOD are just a couple of the amazing attributes - her and her sister Teniya, also a Grappling Champion, have this unique bond that has propelled them to where they are today - Professor Nick, Miguel, & I are blessed to be a part of your journey - earning ALL of her belts at IJJ -
