We’re thrilled to be part of Honolulu Tech Week! This week, our shop will host events bringing together founders, engineers, creators, and more as part of a statewide celebration of innovation. Things might be a little busier than usual, with some of our normal hospitality being limited, but the energy and coffee will be flowing!

Monday (8th) - TAKE OUT ONLY 8:30-10:00am

It is beginning…

A subscription program for us.

All of you who have joined me on this ride through the discovery of coffee’s international leaders.

We have spent almost two years thinking of how to provide a subscription program that matches our experience in the shop. Ever since our insane advent calendar (that we barely broke even on because of the generous donation of labor from Rechung, Dyo, and TK) we’ve wanted to re-imagine how we send you home with coffee.

Try-Cycle is aimed to tackle two of our biggest concerns with providing a subscription service. Packaging waste and Guided Exploration.

Packaging waste.
The carbon footprint the coffee industry has is quite shameful. We don’t want to add to it. With our introductory launch of 30 subscriptions we are reducing 30 retail packaging to 10 bulk packages. Retail packaging has multiple layers of design while bulk packaging is almost always simplistic and easiest to recycle. As the number of Try-Cyclists grows the reduction of retail packaging we consume will also grow!

Guiding Exploration.
It’s easy in the shop for me to talk to a handful of us about coffee and all the what’s and why’s. The problem is I can only have so many conversations within the hours of 6:30am-1:00pm. Within each Cycle a curation of ten coffees have been selected to expand your palate and explore your olfactory connection to coffee. Although I’m still learning how to navigate, Try Cyclists will be invited to an online Discord server to open communication between other Try Cyclists and our team!


I can’t express enough how excited I am for this. As much as I want to provide this program for everyone, our initial launch will be limited to 30. This is an experience that I will dedicate a lot of focused attention fine tuning the program to reach its fullest potential. We will grow this, but I want to nurture it’s beginning.

Classic and modern?

Tim Wendelboe has been around for a long long time and is definitely a pioneer in the early movement of specialty coffee. They’ve stayed true to their style of coffee from their start in 2007 which is why I say classic, but even today it is easily considered a modern specialty coffee profile.

What can I SEY about this coffee? Would you SEY you'd want to Try? Should I just
TRY SEY puns the entire caption? I probably should just SEY what coffees I
brought in to TRY.

Alright, alright, thank you for hanging in there while I got that out. This has
been a coffee I almost gave up on bringing in, but a huge shout out to Matt at
for helping out. Each coffee is roasted to highlight delicate
notes that are unique to the coffee, process, and terroir. I have been gifted this
coffee in the past and some of you have been lucky enough to get a cup.
Believe me when I SEY, this coffee is worth a TRY.

This has been an opportunity that I didn't think would actually happen. Thanks to our newest member of the team, Ji, we were able to get coffee from ! Not only did we get an amazing selection, we were able to bring in two coffee's for our Fanciful Menu. The first I'll only briefly mention since it is deserving of its very own post.

Joo Yeon's Selection #4.

The second, a Geisha grown in the Calderón family's farm Don Cayito. A wonderful and calming story on the palate. For this coffee I had to set aside a full hour of my time to just sit and sip. Just sat and sipped. Not many coffees command attention in such a delicately polite manner. If you get the chance to Try, please do.

We are truly grateful for being able to serve and can't wait to Try them again.
