Just a quick update to let everyone know the block shoots resume on August 9th. Baring a second round of the virus, we plan to continue holding shoots on the second Sunday of each month thru April 2021.
Sign up is at noon and the shooting starts at 1:00 pm. Kitchen will be open, so bring your appetite.
According to Governor Wolf’s mandate, please wear a mask and keep your social distance when practicable.

Regular club meetings have resumed and are held on the 4th Wednesday of the month starting at 7 pm.

06/10/2020

Great news! The governor has elevated the state virus alert to YELLOW. That allows us to open up the club for activities again, although in a limit form. For now, we are starting small with a regular club meeting to be held on June 24 at 7:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the clubhouse as usual.

During this meeting we will be holding the drawing for the spring raffle. We are raffling off a Tri-Star 12 GA Over/Under shotgun, a Smith & Wesson M&P 380 EZ pistol and a $100 Cabela’s gift card. Tickets are still available and at a discounted rate. If you would like additional tickets, please send $5 per ticket to the club at: PO Box 541, Morgantown, PA 19543. Tickets may also be purchased at the meeting.

Silhouettes shoots have been canceled for 2020 but the shotgun shoots are scheduled to resume on August 9. There’s even talk of a muzzle loader shoot this fall. Stay tuned for further details.

04/18/2020

Due to the state and federal Covid-19 virus guidelines all activities at the club are cancelled until further notice. There will be no meetings or shoots until the government rescinds the mandated closure of all nonessential businesses. The club will send out a notice when we schedule the next meeting.

The club grounds will remain open to all members. We will maintain the range and grounds as best possible during the closure. While using the range, please be courteous to other members and adhere to the social distancing guidelines at all times. Also, please keep the trash to a minimum. We do not have regular trash service and will have even more of an issue clearing trash during the closure. If you notice any problems or vandalism at the club please contact one of the officers or email the club at [email protected].

The drawing for the spring raffle scheduled for April 19, 2020 will be postponed until the next available meeting. Due to extending the raffle we have reduced the cost of tickets. You may now purchase additional tickets at $5 per ticket. Half the normal cost. If you would like to purchase additional tickets please forward cash, check or money order to the club at: MRAG PO BOX 541 Morgantown, PA 19543. The ticket stubs will be returned by USPS.

Lastly, there has been a very disturbing incident at the club. Someone decided to use the club grounds as a dumping ground for their unwanted lumber scraps. There are 30 to 40 pieces of pressure treated lumber laying around the woods behind the 75-yard trap. All this accomplished is creating problems for the club. We will have to collect and dispose of this trash at the club’s expense. Anyone caught dumping trash of any type at the club will be ejected from the club along with their sponsor if applicable. We work hard and have spent a lot of money to keep the club in great condition. For the cost, you won’t find a nicer club. Let’s all do our part to keep it that way.

03/18/2020

We have had some questions about joining the club and specifically about securing a sponsor. The membership rules are listed on the club web site: morgantownrodandgunclub.com

You can meet members during club meetings and events. Currently the meetings are held the 4th Wednesday of each month. Shotgun shoots are the second Sunday of each month except for May, June and July. We also hold other events throughout the year - check the website calendar for details.

03/18/2020

The March meeting has been canceled due to the state wide shut down. Meetings will resume on April 22.

The April shotgun shoot scheduled for April 12 (Easter) will be pushed out one week to April 19. The winners for the spring raffle will be pulled on April 19 also.

Lastly - We had a report of targets left on the range and a lot of 5.56 brass scattered around. Please take time to police the area when you are finished shooting. Leaving brass laying around is not only ugly but causes a hazard when mowing the range. Please place empty cases - brass or steel - in the can. We do recycle. As for targets. If you bring it in please take it home.

02/14/2020

If you haven't paid your dues for 2020 yet there is still some time left to get your payment to the club. The absolute cut off date is 2/29/20. Anyone not paid by that date will be dropped. There is an additional $10 fee that will be added to your dues for late payment. Post mark will determine date paid.

We also have spring raffle tickets available for $10 each. The tickets are available by mail or at a club meeting or event. The next club meeting is 2/26/20 at 7 pm.

We also have a couple tickets for the NRA banquet on 2/29/20 in Lancaster. Tickets are $50 each.
