Species Spotlight Friday: Meet the Livingston Eland

The Livingston Eland is one of the largest and most impressive antelope species in the world. Known for their massive size, calm demeanor, and beautiful tan coats with faint white striping, these animals are truly a sight to see on the ranch.

Originally native to southern Africa, Livingston Eland have adapted extremely well to Texas ranch country and are a favorite among exotic wildlife enthusiasts and hunters alike.

✨ What makes them unique?
• Mature bulls can weigh over 1,500 pounds
• Both males and females carry thick spiral horns
• Despite their size, Eland are surprisingly athletic and capable of clearing fences from a standstill
• Their signature dewlap and slight shoulder hump give them a powerful, unmistakable appearance
