Take 2 minutes from scrolling and enjoy watching this dolphin taking a quick tour through our canal - most likely looking for some blue crabs and fish 🦀🐟

We often see dolphins around Homosassa looking through the mud and corralling fish in the canals and against the sides of the river. Using their agility and their tails to create powerful waves that can stun the fish, dolphins may be cute to us - but they can definitely be considered an apex predator in the animal world.

The wildlife and wonders of nature never get old ❤️☀️

A male Wood Duck perched up in a tree at the end of our canal ☀️ I often see him with a female hanging out around here and flying up into their tree together.

When kayaking and exploring the Homosassa or Halls River, you can see a lot of these ducks as well as anhingas, cormorants, herons, kingfishers, eagles, osprey, swallow-tailed kites, pelicans, ibis, vultures, and more!

Came across a nice sized turtle today, possibly a Florida Red-Bellied Cooter, enjoying one of our wetland ponds here on the property.

With all of the wonderful rain we've been having the past few days, these ponds have filled all the way back up and we're starting to see them evolve into their summer form! With all sorts of various plants starting to sprout and hundreds of tadpoles swimming about, if you're here for a visit - check out this route! 🐸

We're definitely entering the sticky hot swampy time of Florida's seasons so if you're going outdoors please remember to get some natural bug spray as well as cooling clothing that covers as much skin as possible. AND REMEMBER TO BRING WATER! ☀️

We hope everyone is having a peaceful and safe Memorial Day and enjoyed your weekend! Remembering our heroes and enjoying our freedoms that they've earned and maintained for us 🇺🇸

While I never ended up serving in the actual forces, at risk of my own embarrassment for this photo, this was me in my second year of NJROTC way back during highschool! During that time I was able to learn and see so many important things. My favorite experience was when our unit was given the opportunity to go to Parris Island in South Carolina for a week to train as if we were Marine recruits - staying in the barracks, eating at the Mess Hall, PT, doing the obstacle courses, and touring the amazing Museum and facilities on the base. We even got to watch recruit swim training which was pretty entertaining 🤣 That trip alone was such a character building time of learning about patriotism, brother and sisterhood, and respect for what our armed forces do and have done for us for hundreds of years. The best we can do as citizens is to educate ourselves and remember those fallen.

Thank you to all of our service members, we are forever grateful!

The weather today is definitely more clear than yesterday! A beautiful slightly cloudy day today with some mild to medium winds, it's a lovely day to be outside or on the water!

The crowd has definitely been large on the river with people celebrating the weekend, but vibes are high and as long as you're a comfortable kayaker it's a super fun time out there!
