INTRA-Workout Nutrition

Do you fuel up during your training? This is a somewhat controversial topic. But it’s truly a simple concept. If you are properly fueling outside of your training window, then you will want to create an energy rich environment during your workout as well.

When we train we are asking our muscle to use our energy that is stored at hand. But eventually it has to get replenished to continue your training session. I learned this lesson the hard way in Iron Man Chattanooga. And while normal training sessions are not 12 hour endurance races. The concepts still apply. Our body craves glycogen while training. So give it what it wants.

My current mix is 1 scoop of 1st Phorm Phormula-1 Ice Cream Sandwich and 2 scoops of orange Gatorade! in a bottle!

Break it down to build it back.

After taking close to a year off of real weightlifting to focus on Triathlon training, I have lost a lot of my technical proficiency. Weightlifting is a very technical skill and requires lots of dedication to the finer points.

One of my big focuses for 2022 is to come back to the sport I love and be able to lift with consistency across all efforts and percentages.

So I have to tear it down and rebuild what I have.

PODIUM weekend for team Iron Pro Coaching! Saturday Anna competed on a team! While training up for this event we focused on strength improvement and it paid dividends with a PR 1 Rep Max Thruster!

Then on Sunday, Forrest Walden won in dominant fashion. Winning all events, but 1. The one event he didn’t win…he got second!

Incredibly proud of both of these competitors and so proud of all of their work over the last months! Time for the next goal!!

How did I transition from a competitive weightlifter to an IRONMAN in less than a year? I understood the value of the small things. I knew that if I gave myself a singular task to focus on each day I would eventually experience drastic change. If I just looked at the big picture I would have been completely overwhelmed. But I narrowed my vision and was able to make a drastic change in less time than I expected.

I knew my weaknesses and hired a coach to help me hammer my deficiencies. I knew I had no business writing an IRONMAN program so I found an expert and allowed them to do what they are great at!

In 2012 I decided to take massive action and bet on myself. I dropped out of UAB and began coaching full time at a small local CrossFit box. At the time I had no idea where my journey would go. What I did know, is that I had a passion for helping people change their lives with fitness.⁣

Fast Forward 9 Years and I still have the same passion! I love being able to guide people along the path to their physical goals. Whether it’s achieving a certain physique, taking back control of your health, or completing a physical challenge. I want to be a resource for you!⁣
