The Great Holyoke Brick Race

The Great Holyoke Brick Race Performance art meets sport. Think pine wood car derby but with using bricks instead. Located on the Free to attend. All are welcome!

80 Race Street in Holyoke. As the name implies, a “Brick Race” involves designing and building a brick racecar that is mounted on wheels and raced down an inclined track using only gravity to cross the finish line first. We believe that this “Brick Race” is the first of its kind anywhere, and certainly it’s the only brick race taking pl

ace in the fine city of Holyoke, Massachusetts. The purpose of the event is to bring together the diverse community of Holyoke and surrounding towns for a day of fun, excitement and creativity for all to enjoy. This event is supported in part by a grant from the Holyoke Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Here in Holyoke, we see every day how that investment works.

Major community events like Holyoke PrideFest and the Great Holyoke Brick Race.

This is what a healthy creative ecosystem looks like — local action aligned with statewide support.

When the state invests in the arts, cities like Holyoke grow stronger.
