Three years ago I raised a concern about pedestrian safety in Holton, Kansas — specifically the lack of safe sidewalks and crosswalks to reach grocery stores across U.S. Highway 75.

Sadly, three years later, nothing has changed.

Many residents still cannot safely walk or bike to buy groceries. For a community our size, that should concern all of us.

Safe crossings, sidewalks, and basic pedestrian infrastructure are not unreasonable requests — they are common-sense improvements that protect our neighbors.

If you agree this is important, please contact our city commissioners and ask them to prioritize pedestrian safety in Holton.

Our town deserves safe streets for everyone.

Attention friends in Holton, Kansas! Did you know that it is unsafe for nearly every pedestrian to walk, or ride a bike to one of our grocery stores? It's time to bring up the need for infrastructure improvements in our town. Specifically, we need to address the lack of sidewalks and crosswalks to cross Hwy 75.
Without proper infrastructure, it can be dangerous for pedestrians to navigate our streets, especially when it comes to busy roads like Hwy 75. It's important that we prioritize the safety of our community members, and that means investing in the necessary improvements.
So, reach out to our city commissioners. We need sidewalks and crosswalks in Holton, and we need them now. Let's work together to create a safer and more accessible environment for everyone in our town.
