The Ladies of the Board are spear heading the Concessions for the Cross Country Meet we host on September 12th. We are looking for help getting cinnamon rolls, scotcheroos & chocolate chip bars provided and a few workers that morning to help out. There is a sign up on the bulletin board at the club if you are willing to volunteer.

The Holstein Country Club Board & Management invites all members to attend a special meeting on September 10th at 6:30 PM to discuss putting a new roof on the Clubhouse. This will be an informative meeting on the cost and timeline of the project. There will be a Share Holder’s vote for approval taken after the discussion. We encourage all Members to attend and hope to see you there.

As many of you know, the Clubhouse roof is in need of being replaced. The board and management have targeted this fall for replacement. The obvious question on a project this size is “how do we pay for it?”. We had a group of members than stepped up to help us answer that question. They had run a “deck crawl” event 2 years ago with great success and decided to do it again with proceeds helping fund the roof project.

Tickets were sold to access the decks and Clubhouse for the evening, a “ball drop” raffle was organized, auction items were lined up including: A night out on a party bus, an afternoon/evening boating, half day course rental at HCC, and a pool party.

All and all the Deck Crawl raised around 1/3 of the funds needed to replace the roof which is a heck of a feat when you consider the overall cost of the project!

Earlier this month, Lohff Schumann and HCC teamed up again this year for a youth golf camp. The camp was led by High School Golf Coach and HCC member Alex Warnke.

The camp consisted of two days of instruction, followed by a skills challenge and tournament day. Results of the tournament are as follows.

Girls division: 1st place: Ryan Jensen

Boys 3rd-5th: 1st place: Dane Nobles
2nd place: Eli Warnke
3rd place: Knox Boling

Boys 6-8th: 1st place: Jace Wandrey
2nd place: Beckett Johnson
3rd place: Jett Hustedt

A big thanks to the volunteers that helped out with the camp: Jacob Clarahan, Rex Rimmer, Doug Ruffridge, Roger Graham. As well as the parents and Grandparents that helped out following groups during the tournament.

ISO: Bartender/Clubhouse attendant. HCC is currently seeking to add to our bartending staff. Hours will vary but some weekend availability is a must. Duties will include checking in golfers, serving b**r and mixed drinks, stocking coolers, and some light cleaning. Feel free to contact Evan at 319-231-9536 if this is something that may interest you.

Reminder: The course is closed tomorrow 8-22 for the IDAHO Cup. Tournament will get over late afternoon, check with the Clubhouse to get an approximate time that we will open for members and green fee play.

Attention Ladies League Players: Tomorrow, 8-18 will be the final regular league night. The committee invites everyone to bring a snack to share if they would like for a wrap up party. Please get any unplayed matches caught up asap!
