Who owns the data generated by an athlete’s body?

We break down the NBA’s wearable-tech rules, why teams cannot use player wearable data in future contract negotiations, trades, or waivers, and why the deeper battle is really about control, inference, retention, and value. The current public CBA gives players access to their wearable data and restricts public/commercial use absent further agreement.

We have now seen ABS in person more than once, and the takeaway is simple: this is not baseball handing the game over to machines. It is baseball trying to fix the biggest strike-zone misses without giving up the human pressure, judgment, and strategy that make the sport what it is.
