Holy wow, what a week!

Just shy of 6 months in this role, I had the honor of being a speaker at this year’s conference for studio owners and cerologists.

Within a larger session about local marketing led by the CMO of Self Esteem Brands and Senior Director of Brand Marketing for Waxing The City, I got to lead a discussion around the changing algorithms of meta and how local businesses should be approaching their strategy around them. Then, I led a fun workshop on how to make content planning more accessible and sustainable. It was so fun to see some light bulb moments happen for these owners and cerologists.

For franchise owners, it can be hard to think about social media on top of everything else they have to do, so providing a templated approach to the planning side of social media content can be super helpful in creating more efficiencies when it comes to the creation side.

The energy all week was right on theme - it truly was electrifying. āš”ļø

A HUGE shout out to my direct team, and for absolutely nailing the social coverage of this week. And to the entire marketing and product team from SEB who are some of the most welcoming humans I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. 🫶✨

This was such a fun and memorable experience in my professional journey, and I can’t wait to do it all again for conference in next month! šŸ˜…

Living in MN for as long as we have, I cannot believe it’s taken us this long to explore what Wayzata has to offer…mainly: delicious food experiences.

Last week was and this week we tried the perfect duo for this Italian/Mexican gal in Minny.

Not one thing ordered was a regret at either of these places. The vibes were perfect, plating was simple yet exquisite, flavors were vibrant and the service was so personal and attentive.

Making a mental note to make an effort to get out west a little more often.

I have always been a beach gal. I (along with my head and respiratory system) would take sea level over elevation any day. But over the past year, with more frequent visits to Colorado to watch my nephew grow up, the Mountains have quickly become a haven. A place of peace and grounding. A reminder of how small we really are. Of the fact that life knows what it’s doing and having to force what doesn’t come natural is the first sign things aren’t supposed to be that way.

Don’t get me wrong, I will always be up for time on a beach, but in this season of life, the mountains are calling a little louder than they ever have before, and I’m not mad about it. šŸ”ļø

2 months into my new role as a Director of Social and I’m SO proud.

As a direct result of mentorship, supportive leadership, full trust, and open communication I have been able look back at the last two months and physically see both the impact I’ve already had on my team and the work I’m here to do as well as the impact I can have as time goes on.

And while I’ve been reinvigorated by the progress I’ve made in my own professional growth and development, my favorite thing I’ve gained recently has been a newfound confidence.

I left my previous company 2 months shy of 10 years. It was a place I very much gave everything to. I felt such a loyalty to it because it gave my my big break. That, paired with the dedication and hard work I put in, got me to where I am today…which is what made it incredibly hard to imagine leaving-even when I began recognizing the growth trajectory had stopped. (I mean, I couldn’t just leave everything I’d worked my ass off for!)

But now, it’s been two months in my new role and I’ve never been more certain this is EXACTLY what I’ve worked my ass off for.

Different companies, roles, leaders, (fill in the blank) serve us at different parts of our lives. And it’s up to us as professionals to not only recognize when something is no longer serving us, but more importantly, to take (or find) the new opportunity that does.

As I reflect on both, the last two months and the previous 10 years, the biggest takeaway has been that it can be easy to marry yourself to a narrative centered around loyalty to a ā€œdream jobā€ because it was ā€œeverything you wanted and you didn’t think in a million years you’d get another opportunity like thatā€.

Not going to lie, as an achiever it’s hard for me to not be celebrating a 10year workiversary today. But things change and evolve and moving on to something new doesn’t make your previous ā€œdream jobā€ any less of a dream. It doesn’t take away the pride you had for doing something you never thought you could do.

Moving on means you evolved and you’ve set yourself up for even bigger dreams to reach for

Ready to keep dreaming ā˜ŗļøšŸ’

My little bumble bee is ONE!!!! What a year it has been getting to watch this little dude grow into his precious little personality. Through a pretty stressful year, visits with him were always the reset I needed.

From hard days at the WFH office, to hiking in the mountains, to sick cuddles and his first ER visit (thanks daycare koodies) to Spurs games and holidays, being Milo’s Auntie is one of my favorite things to be in the world šŸŒŽ 🄰

Hey Monday! Back again so soon?
What is your one must-do on a Monday that sets you up for success during the week?

I’ll go first: I HAVE to read a social media article or blog. The thing that inspires me the most at my job is the thing I have the least amount of time to do. But there is just something about reading new tips and tricks, case studies, or new app capabilities that gets me inspired for the week. And in 2020, I need to find inspiration wherever it will come!

Some of my favorites places for always insightful social reads: , , .

Shout out to for the best ā˜•ļø

Awkwardly asking for a favor, Take 1. šŸŽ¬

Being self-taught in social and then being given the keys to a brand account was intimidating to say the least. Talk about imposter syndrome! šŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø But they say that if you want to know if someone can swim, throw them in at the deep end, right?

Well, this was the deep end. Me, myself, and I solely responsible for content and content strategy for a brand’s social presence. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who supported me in this. From my parents who invested in helping their daughter get to Vet school only to have that plan flip completely on it’s head. To my leaders, mentors, and colleagues who have shown a trust in me in times I didn’t even have it in myself.

These last 4 years working in social media have been the most fun, exciting, challenging, invigorating, educational, and rewarding years of my life.

And so...this brings me to my awkward request. is a social media tool used to help businesses with social listening, content analytics and publishing. They have a ton of informative blogs and have been a resource for me many times. They are doing a little contest to award someone ā€œBest In Classā€ for running a brand account and I would be honored to be nominated.

Nominations go like this: Between now and Dec 1, share as many posts as you’re comfortable with to your IG, FB, TW, or LI feed tagging . (Shares/retweets/stories won’t count). The award is for someone who makes a brand’s social presence relevant, engaging and authentic, so the post would help share how I’ve done that for Life Time.

I never participate in contests like this but 1. It’s 2020, so YOLO, and 2. As I grow my account to help others with their social media presence, this would help in giving both myself and those reaching out to me something to point to as credibility.

So you can visit my story for more information, or you can totally pass this post by, either way-thanks for being here it all! ā™„ļø Much love!

New certification, who dis? šŸŽ“
*drafts up request for a raise

This year has been unique in that the amount of opportunities I’ve had for continued learning have been amazing and I’m here for it! Just finished taking my community managers certification, and as per my usual testing MO lately, I scraped by, passing with a 751 (needed minimum of 700).

I could write a post about how NOT here I was for that testing experience, but you can check my stories for that šŸ˜‰ This post is to encourage you to ABL - Oh, you thought it was ABC? No: Always Be Learning. Regardless of the things that might hold you back (in this case a super full plate, big time commitment, and an intimidating testing environment) it’s always going to be worth coming out the other side with a new feather in your cap.

So keep the hunger for knowledge alive. What’s something new you learned today?

Any out there also having a hard time figuring out how to plan November?? What about friends and family out there - anyone just ready to turn social media off for the rest of the year?

I love my job, which if you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’ve found my dream job in social media content managing. While it can get stressful at times, I actually love the variety in my day to day, and the constant pivots keep me on my toes. Pretty sure if you’ve made it through 2020 as a social media marketer - or any marketer for that matter, you deserve a reward!

This is an important time for anyone in this industry. We have a responsibility to contribute value to a space where fake news is flying left and right, where internet bullies are coming out of the woodworks, and where anything you put up could be offensive to someone. It’s not business as usual, and it never will be again - that stopped with the virus.

So how are you pivoting in a way that keeps you a relevant, necessary subject matter expert for the rest of 2020. Haven’t thought about it yet? Here’s your reminder!

This is your friendly reminder that the election is exactly one month away. šŸ—“ GO VOTE.
