Our friend OceanShutter with this gem - 🧽 Just a harmless little sponge… right? 😂

WRONG. 🚨🐟

This frogfish was sitting there looking like a totally innocent piece of sponge when a Banggai cardinalfish wandered a little too close.

Then—BOOM. 💥

Frogfish have one of the fastest feeding strikes in the ocean, launching their expandable mouths forward and sucking prey in so quickly it can look like the fish simply disappeared. 😳

Basically, this sponge has a mouth, an appetite, and absolutely zero interest in sharing. 😂

Nature’s version of: “Come closer, I dare you.” 🧽😈

It has a central brain, located between its eyes, that controls learning, memory, and decision-making.

Each of its eight arms has large nerve centers capable of exploring, touching, tasting, and performing movements with a certain degree of independence.

Approximately two-thirds of its neurons are located in its arms rather than in its central brain.

Because of this, one arm can explore a crevice or manipulate an object while the octopus is paying attention to something else. Even so, all eight arms work together in coordination.

We had them to ourselves, mind blowing. People travel the world to witness wildlife in crowds, here we are all alone with sharks that have been doing this for hundreds of millions of years, unbothered by us.
