I didn’t know what I was getting myself into today but what a walk. This is me saying goodbye to Rome and having my gladiator moment. On to the next adventure.

It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the loss of a great racer. We lost Eddie Corbin (daddy) aka fast Eddie. He put up an epic battle with cancer but he didn’t go out without swinging. RIP Daddy. You will be forever missed. God speed and silent engines to you.

The 2026 IMPBA Gas Nationals is now complete. The Charleston Model Boaters can not thank every one enough for participating in this race. An extra thank you goes to Mike Hemric, Nick, Lance, Don, and Jesse for doing all of the CD work along with all of the scoring while also racing their own boats. Thank you to Doug Smock for showing up and helping with anything he could to make sure the race went smooth.

The Charleston Model Boaters want to thank all of our sponsors and everyone who donated to the raffle because a race like this cannot happen without each and every one of your generous donations!

I will be posting the top 3 scores in each class in the next couple of days and we look forward to hosting everyone at the FALL NATIONALS which will be held on October 9,10,11 right here in Hollywood, SC.

We are just over 2 weeks away from the IMPBA Gas Nationals hosted by the Charleston Model Boaters. Our club has completed many upgrades over the winter including a completely new PA system as well as an upgrade to our clock stand and camera system that we use to call the starts. We have also added some steps to get in and out of the pits safely and dug out the island on the right hand side of the course to allow for more racing room.

CONTROLLED Open water begins Wednesday morning at 9am and will end at 6pm. Drivers meetings will begin at 7:30am Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Any other info can be found on rcracingevents on the race flyer.

We can't wait to see everyone!

Tentative Schedule:
Open water – May 13 from 9am to 5pm
National Champion classes – May 14 to May 16.
Driver meeting 7:30am / 8am
Racing Banquet – May 16 at 7pm
Specialty classes/make up day – May 17 beginning 9am
