Congratulations to Kaylee Harthun on earning recognition as the State Bank Athlete of the Week during the week of December 16, 2024 for competitive cheer. Below are Coach Taylor's comments regarding Kaylee's impressive week:
Kaylee is a freshman on our team this year, and she has worked incredibly hard to earn her place in all three rounds for our first competition. Kaylee consistently gives 110% at practice and is always asking for feedback on how she can improve, showcasing her coachable spirit and dedication.

Her positive attitude and team-first mindset make her the true definition of a team player. During the sideline season, Kaylee worked hard as both a flyer and a base. Since competition practices started in November, she has been a base. However, the day before our first competition, one of our backspots was unable to compete, leaving a critical gap to fill.

Without hesitation, Kaylee stepped up and offered to try backspotting for the group she had been basing. Despite her limited experience as a backspot, Kaylee impressed both her coaches and teammates with her positivity, strength, and determination. She listened carefully to every suggestion and correction, immediately applying them to master the role.

Kaylee’s hard work and adaptability helped lead the team to a 2nd place victory, with her success as a new backspot playing a crucial role in saving Round 3. We couldn’t have done it without her, and we are so proud of her effort and achievement.

We want to thank Kaylee for embodying what it means to be a true teammate and athlete!

Please see the note below from Coach Taylor and Coach Sparling regarding our sideline cheer team’s camp this past week:

This week Varsity Cheer traveled to Frankenmuth for a 3 day power cheer camp with North American Spirit. The team worked so hard this week and learned new stunts that they are so excited to show on Friday nights! They also were given tools to build their homecoming routine. We are so proud of them and their commitment to their teammates and themselves and this showed as we circled up for spirit night and shared that with everyone. This is going to be a great season for the team and we cannot wait to show it off!
