Here is my humble advice for as a āback of the packā-er: Be nervous. Be excited. Even be a little doubtful. Use that energy and āRise Aboveā.
We each have a place on that field. The one before and the one behind you, even a full wave behind you, may need you on that field.
The trainers and volunteers (yes, even as judges!) are there to support you. They hold you to the highest standard. They push you when you feel like there may not be any more āpushā left. . Rise Above that doubt. Take that energy and Rise Above.
Cheer that person doubting herself next to you. Accept the encouragement from that guy who already finished. Tell that person waiting in line to compete that he will do great.
Rise Above to the challenge you (or your trainer!) put before you. This is YOUR Games. Youāve done the practice. Youāve pushed yourself in Camp. You woke up early or went late, or went twice in a day (because you are crazy). You did those dang bear crawls with weights. You learned how to hop like a frog (really? A frog).
Rise Above to this challenge. We are each here to support you. When you have doubt, pause for a minute. Breathe. Look around. Everyone is there doing that thing too. We are and we are *dang* sure . Rise Above. Then Celebrate Yourself at the end. YOU DID that thing. *YOU*
(Btw, I will be on the field as a volunteer this year cheering my heart out for all of you) -Emily Foley
