BACHO USERS

Been working on another saw order. As always I am using Bahco blades. I have always and still think these are the best blades out there. On my last order of 104 saws I had a complaint that 58 blades had rusted. I immediately replaced them thinking it was my fault. My shop is not climate controlled. As I was assembling this order I noticed what looked like smudges on the new blades. Click. I got out a rag and some WD and gave them a wipe, Rust. I just ordered these blades for this order. I opened another package and the blades are rusting in the wrapper. Curious, I had ordered 60 blades for the 58 blade replacement so I searched out the other 2 and opened one, same smudges. The packages have a perforated strip on one side for opening and this is the same side the smudges are on. The other side seems perfect. I opened 14 blades and had rust on all 14.
I don't know if this is a production problem or a distributor problem. All I can do is wipe down each blade with WD. I suggest that you keep an eye on your blades.

So simple and yet so handy. Picked up this milk crate at a yard sale and just happened upon this disposable foam cooler being thrown away. They fit snugly under my carry yoke and come apart to form a cooler and a table. No more cleaning off the cooler to get at what you forgot inside.

Marbles Bird and Trout

Damn near perfect for Maine hunting and fishing. Good for gutting and caping and skinning up to deer size game. An original on the top and two newer productions. Don't care much for newer Marbles but somehow these slipped through the cracks. Good steel and non slip handle.

All dried and treated with a cote of Pitch Blend.
The molding creates a spring type action that helps keep the knife from falling from the sheath. It's strong enough to support the weight of the sheath as well as the weight of the knife. The knotted lanyard is another safeguard, Bring the knot up under your belt and let it hang over the top of your belt. It takes quite a noticeable tug to get the knife free. I dare say few knives are lost in huge catastrophes. Most are lost because they fell out and nobody noticed.

Wet Molding a Knife Sheath

I use this a lot in axe sheaths, knife sheathes, and holsters. Make the sheath fit the knife as usual. Wet the sheath through with warm water. Wrap the knife in plastic and place in the sheath to the desired depth. Place on a counter, table, board, something flat and hard. Use your thumb or finger and shape the leather around the hilt. Do this shaping two or three times in the next few hours and let it dry. No Microwaves, ovens or hot sunny windows, shady room temp. You laugh but I had someone who wanted to help and dried my leather wallet in a microwave after a river spill. Very interesting results. After it is totally dry you can treat it with leather dressing. I don't recommend leather oil as it will soften the leather. I have come to prefer Montana Pitch Blend.
By molding both sides of the hilt you have created a pocket. You can feel the knife snap into it. It helps keep the knife from falling out and it also helps keep you from shoving the the knife through the end of the sheath. There are other places on the sheath you can mold to some advantage but I don't recommend molding the spine. You don't want the blade to fit too tight or you may shove the blade through the side of the sheath.
