Welcome to the Buxton & Hollis Rod & Gun Club page 2.0!
Established in 1936 by a passionate group of rifle and shotgun enthusiasts, our club has been a cornerstone of outdoor activities in Maine for nearly a century. From our humble beginnings meeting at the Community Hall at the Casco Bank in West Buxton, to our current state-of-the-art clubhouse, our journey has been one of dedication to our community and a love for the great outdoors.
In the early days, we were known as the Buxton & Hollis S***t & Rifle Club, but our mission has always been the same: to serve our local community while fostering a love for outdoor sports. Throughout the decades, we've organized events, raised trout, and stocked ponds, all while creating cherished memories for generations of Mainers.
Though our original cottage on Deer Pond met its end in a fire in 1972, our spirit remained unshaken. We continued to grow, hosting hunter safety classes, archery programs, and participating in county fairs. In 2016, our commitment to community service was officially recognized when we were granted tax-exempt status as a "public charity."
Today, with nearly 400 dedicated members, we continue our legacy of service and outdoor recreation. From charity shoots to youth fishing events, we're passionate about promoting safe and sustainable outdoor activities throughout Maine. We're proud to support organizations like the Boy Scouts of America, the Active Heroes Foundation, and the Adaptive Defensive Shooting Summit.
Join us as we continue to champion the spirit of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and stewardship of our natural resources. Follow our page for updates on upcoming events, community initiatives, and to connect with fellow outdoor enthusiasts. Together, let's make memories and make a difference in our beloved Maine wilderness.
