Alright trail camera folks, there are two kinds of users out there…..either you tuck the excess strap on your camera or you say screw it and let it fly with the wind! Which one are you? I prefer the tuck method but let’s hear the comments! I’m curious how many rebels are out there just letting her fly!

Researchers tracked 188 GPS-collared bucks around the clock across four rutting seasons to determine exactly when those big bucks move the most. The collars recorded each deer’s location every hour from October 15 through December 1, and the same window stood out every year. November 4 through November 8. Buck movement rates more than doubled from October 15 to their peak, and bucks were also more likely to move during the middle of the day.

Peak breading actually occurs November 9-14, and movement slows down slightly during that time. The highest movement rates and largest daily ranges occurred during that November 4–8 window across every buck age group. So peak breeding and the best time to hunt are not necessarily the same thing. Based on four years of GPS evidence, the best time to hunt bucks is November 4-8.
