Camp Deerwood

Camp Deerwood Summer camp on Squam Lake in the White Mountains Deerwood is a residential boys camp of 130 campers, located on Squam Lake at the edge of the White Mountains.

The campers participate in a well-rounded program of challenging activities in a friendly atmosphere. The boys are encouraged to set goals and are allowed a great bit of choice in designing their daily activities. Enjoying the outdoors, learning new skills and making lasting friendships is a big part of camp; helped along by the experienced staff, beautiful surroundings and unplugged environment.

Deerwood is proud of its 3:1 camper to counselor ratio, backed by a nucleus of 10 to 12 senior counselors who return with their families year after year lending maturity, experience and continuity to the program. Deerwood offers a variety of activities which provide campers with challenges and new experiences. The program encourages participation in all activities. These activities include swimming, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, fishing, riflery, archery, campcraft, dramatics, tennis, low ropes course, soccer, lacrosse. The crafts department consists of woodworking, blacksmithing and ceramics. Canoe and mountain trips are an important part of the Deerwood experience. Campers develop a healthy respect for the environment, while learning to work together as a team and to be self-sufficient. Deerwood is fortunate to be a short distance from some of the most pristine and beautiful wilderness in the country.
