Sharing some of our favorite memories of Coach Carl.

From killer dryland workouts that were actually fun (always starting with a good game of ultimate frisbee), to turkey and pumpkin curling, to winning national championships and all the stops in between.

Our club is mourning the sudden loss of one of our own. Coach Carl was a man whose passion for skating and coaching was second only to his fierce love for his family. Always willing to spend the extra time to talk technique or provide extra encouragement to any skater who wanted the feedback. He treated every athlete like they had all the potential in the world.

Our hearts go out to Coach Carl’s family and to all this who were lucky enough to be coached by him.

Very good news for the Ethan Cepuran Celebration on Sunday, April 12 at 2:00 PM.
at the Glen Ellyn History Center 800 N. Main Street. The celebration is being co-sponsored by The Glen Ellyn Historical Society and Maplewood Public House, which is owned by Glen Ellyn Speed Skating Club alumni Ari and Paul Megalis. Maplewood Public House is located at 486 Pennsylvania Avenue in Glen Ellyn. Thank you Maplewood Public House!

GESS was proud to host Tour of Olympians today. Thank you for your time and dedication to the sport and the skaters. We were so happy to welcome back Ethan and Sarah to their home club with a big warm welcome alongside USS teammate Julie. Everyone had a blast today. Thank you for inspiring the next generation of skaters.

Congratulations Ethan Cepuran

Chair Deborah Conroy and County Board Members Mary FitzGerald Ozog and Grant Eckhoff presented a proclamation to Glen Ellyn native and Olympic medalist Ethan Cepuran and his parents, Marilyn and Carl Cepuran, at the March 24 County Board meeting. Ethan and his teammates won the silver medal in the Milan Winter Olympic Games in speed skating.
