Our Thursday group hiked a portion of the C & D canal to get ready for our 31st annual very popular “ Hike Across Delaware” on Nov 7th. Thanks to Linda G for leading

The 31st Annual Hike Across Delaware
Saturday November 7th 2026
Signups are open now

This is a fun non competitive annual community event hosted every year by The Wilmington Trail Club offering the opportunity to hike 15 miles across the entire width of the state.
We hike along the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.

A big thanks to Frank L. for leading a fun Saturday Med hike thru Brandywine Creek St Pk and First State National Pk.with a short diversion thru Ramsey Farm.
Great hike with over 500’ of elevation.

This past Tuesday we were privileged to be able to hike at Brandywine Conservancy’s crown jewel Laurels Preserve. We rarely get an opportunity to hike this beautiful private preserve which is not open to the public. This hike was wonderful because all had a chance to take a cooling off dip in Buck Run afterwards. Thanks so much to Nancy Peffer for arranging and leading this beautiful hike. We had a wonderful relaxed hike on Tuesday at the DuPont Environmental Education Center at the Wilmington Riverfront. It was a combined hike with DEEC and DE Nature Society. Bob Meadows from DEEC led and pointed out a lot of interesting things about the nature conservation efforts going on there. It was a very interesting and informative hike.

10 hikers including two new members enjoyed a wonderful hike on our Saturday short at ChesLen Preserve. They hiked over rolling Hills alongside tall stands of corn, in the shade at the edge of the woods, by a pond and through a lovely allee of trees.

Our Touring paddlers had a great 7 mile paddle this past Sunday from North East MD to Perryville MD on the North East River.
