Move well, Move Often = Is my Mantra this past few weeks. It's been a few months since I added the certification to my teachings and it has made all the difference! What I love most about this system is that it is centered on the integrity of correcting movement dysfunction to allow and create more mobility and stability in the body.
Integrating this with the classical pilates system has been life changing. I am able to connect the dots faster and teach more efficiently while staying consistent with developing a keen eye when watching a body perform specific movements (on or off an apparatus). I am able to identify where compensation in the body happens much sooner.
When I was going through my pilates certification, I came across this term: proprioception. Since then, I've stayed curious about this and wanted to learn more and more about how this works and how to teach with this in mind. I think understanding this concept plus adding the FMS Screen helped me appreciate what we do as classical pilates instructors. If you're curious here's a good read: https://www.sports-health.com/sports-injuries/general-injuries/proprioception-making-sense-body-position #:~:text=How%20Does%20Proprioception%20Work%3F,muscles%2C%20tendons%2C%20and%20ligaments.
If you are a serious fitness buff or just want to understand how to get to your fitness goals more effectively and simply - quicker. Taking the time to understand each movement before moving often is key! You'll get more out of your workout!
DM anytime me for questions! It's such an amazing thing when you're able to fix your own form in the middle of a set.
