Grands was packed full of talent, speed and extreme skills this year. Riders from all over the world. Within those uniquely talented riders we had 6 of our own. Hayden Gish, Brianna Robb, Joseph Madison, Bradley Robb, Castiel Pearson, and Steve Madison. Everyone knows how challenging grands is. Its not easy. Its a whole year of racing coming down to one single race. A whole year of drive and dedication to showcase how determined a rider is against other top notch riders across the U.S. and around the world with the same goals in mind. Theres nothing to be ashamed of going to the Greatest Race on Earth and falling short of victory. Most will. But if you are one of those individuals who are able to get through the gauntlet of fast maneuvering skills, handle bars gripped so tight your knuckles become white, and a fearlessness that can only be blessed by a BMX God, then I have to tell you, Airborne BMX possess such riders. It takes guts to fall down fast and hard. Hurt! And to get back up and do it all over again, and again, and again, and again. And for what? Some plastic number plate? Countless THOUSANDS of dollars. Hundreds of hours driving and flying. Thousands of miles from city to city, state to state, country to country? No, its so much more than obtaining some plastic number plate. Its about achieving something that words almost can't explain. Its a testament of ones self will, pride, resilience, effort, never quitting when your mind tells you you're not good enough, shaking off haters gossip. Its about rising up and over coming your own doubt and fears for satisfaction and ultimate glory. Most people can't fathom this. But the ones who can and do. They are extremely unique in nature. So with all that said I'd like to take a moment and just say how proud I am of all that went to grands to represent Airborne BMX, but especially 3 of them to find a way to make it happen and bring home some hardware. Steve and Joseph Madison, father and son went all the way to the main event. Steve got 4th and Joseph got 8th. And last but not least Brianna Robb. Making her grands debut and becoming a NAG 11 rider for 12 year old girls expert class. Congratulations to all of you. A special thank you to Gate Nine Custom Number Plates for allowing Airborne BMX to pit with them and taking us in as one of your own.
