Things have been quiet here on my channel. I've seen martial arts schools in my area permanently close as they could not continue to pay the lease while not being allowed to open per county rules. Tough times for local business owners, martial arts instructors, families, students and future students.
I closed my Murfreesboro commercial space time back to allow myself time to travel for other business and work with private lessons at the client home. I relocated to Hamilton County (Chattanooga) a year and a half ago and have stayed in the shadows through this whole ordeal. I could not help but think of how the Qing Dynasty outlawed martial arts training and instruction in China's final dynasty era. Of course it is not punishable by death here, so I am by no means saying it is like that but illegal to instruct in person, none-the-less.
What is the future of Ken's Kung Fu; of our local martial arts in general and for our art? Since we don't have a crystal ball, we can't possibly know that. I am compelled to do my best to continue my own training and to share the art with others as it has been shared with me. I just wanted to share that I am brewing some ideas on the best way for me to move forward in these times and not lose the absolute necessity of in-person instruction.
