Ken's Kung Fu San Soo

Ken's Kung Fu San Soo San Soo is not a system or style but rather the fighting element of kung fu. San Soo is an effective application for self-defense and combat.

San Soo principles can be applied just as effectively in modern combat as they were in ancient times. The ancient art of self defense is taught at Ken's Kung Fu San Soo in Chattanooga, TN. Self-defense, martial arts (Kung Fu San Soo) and QiGong (chee•gong) are all part of what we do.KUNG FU SAN SOO is a martial art training in the fighting systems of Chinese kung fu. San Soo is not a style in its

elf, but the fighting element for all kung fu. Martial QiGong is a valuable training aspect that we work within the San Soo class. Benefits from the ancient, Chinese practice of QiGong are fitness, health and wellness.

The NRA has one of the worst trainings for firearm retention. I've shut this down so many times, I can't count them. The move they show is to bend over and lunge in with their shoulder just above your hip and wrap their arms around you as if to trap your arms. Here is what your left with: They are off balance; I am not. Their back is to me; Their entire spine neck and head is exposed to me to attack without protection. Their feet are planted, exposing their knees and ankles to attack. Their hands are tied up around me, mine are free - regardless if they think they've trapped them...that's a false understanding on their part. They literally expose themselves to the absolute worst outcome. Please don't do this, even though the guy showing you has an official NRA badge and whatever credentials he has otherwise. He has no idea what he's doing and is only showing you techniques that he can pull off in a studio with compliant students.

Things have been quiet here on my channel. I've seen martial arts schools in my area permanently close as they could not continue to pay the lease while not being allowed to open per county rules. Tough times for local business owners, martial arts instructors, families, students and future students.

I closed my Murfreesboro commercial space time back to allow myself time to travel for other business and work with private lessons at the client home. I relocated to Hamilton County (Chattanooga) a year and a half ago and have stayed in the shadows through this whole ordeal. I could not help but think of how the Qing Dynasty outlawed martial arts training and instruction in China's final dynasty era. Of course it is not punishable by death here, so I am by no means saying it is like that but illegal to instruct in person, none-the-less.

What is the future of Ken's Kung Fu; of our local martial arts in general and for our art? Since we don't have a crystal ball, we can't possibly know that. I am compelled to do my best to continue my own training and to share the art with others as it has been shared with me. I just wanted to share that I am brewing some ideas on the best way for me to move forward in these times and not lose the absolute necessity of in-person instruction.
