Years ago (55 to be exact), our family set out to build a place where they could share the beauty of the river with their friends and family. That place was and still is Camp Hi Canoe & Kayak, where we provide boats, access points, and all the Upper Cuyahoga River knowledge you need to paddle with confidence. We're proud of the land we own, the business we've built, and the folks who keep on coming back, and that's what keeps us rolling on, just like the river.

What do you do with a couple of really big canoes? We have a couple. Big John is almost 21 ft long with a capacity of 1200 lbs! Bertha (named after our founder’s grandmother) is 19 ft long with a square stern and a 750lb capacity. These boats are perfect for an outing with family or friends!

We are learning a lot about minnow health. Body count was pretty high before we assembled an active cooling system. Still need to add an automated temperature control and some insulation for overnight efficiency.

The river is rising! Recent rainfall has brought the Upper Cuyahoga River to 658 CFS (3.25 ft on the Hiram Rapids gauge). At this level, the river can be pushy, especially above Hiram Rapids and in the section between Camp Hi and Mantua. We recommend that boaters are paddlers (not floaters) with experience maneuvering around obstacles in fast-moving water. You should know how to brace, use a draw stroke, and use proper boat lean.
