1 - 10 hour boat rentals, bait and tackle on LaDue Reservoir Years ago (55 to be exact), our family set out to build a place where they could share the beauty of the river with their friends and family. That place was and still is Camp Hi Canoe & Kayak, where we provide boats, access points, and all the Upper Cuyahoga River knowledge you need to paddle with confidence. We're proud of the land we own, the business we've built, and the folks who keep on coming back, and that's what keeps us rolling on, just like the river.

We’re thinking about an event to end the season of our 60th year in business and we’d like your input. Tentative date is Tuesday evening, October 6 or Monday, October 13. Probably 6:00 till 10:00 pm. Format is open Mic with story telling and music. Each performance would be one story or two songs. We’ll work on a food truck and a local beverage and charge a small fee for event parking.

Here are a few morning photos from the boat house at LaDue Reservoir. We will stay open until mid-October. Drop in weekends from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm and Fridays from 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Other days and times are available by reservation 24 hours in advance.
Come out for some fall paddling. Catch a sunrise, or catch some fish. Either way, your take home some joy!

A few words about “flood warning” and our section of the Upper Cuyahoga River:
The section on which we operate is close to the headwaters of the river. There are large forested, wetland and marsh areas that act as a buffer when heavy rainfall occurs. This is especially true in summer months. LaDue and East Branch reservoirs are also low this time of year. And while they are not used for flood control, they can hold back significant amounts of water. We don’t have acres of pavement, parking lots, and roofed structures that concentrate and amplify the effects of runoff during heavy rainfall. Today’s volumetric flow was a little below average. Level is holding, but will go up some tonight. We need a LOT more rain to fall before the river gets close to flood stage. Here is the USGS River data for the last 30 days.

I came across an important graphic this morning. We rent Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUPs) at our River and Boathouse locations. A leash is an important safety tool for open water, but potentially fatal on a river. We include leashes on our Boathouse rentals and encourage their use. We do not provide leashes for our River rentals.

The river is great shape right now, and the weather is looking about perfect for some time on the water! Reservoir time is pretty sweet too! We rent until 5:30 at our LaDue Boathouse location; perfect for a late afternoon kayak, canoe, or SUP paddle.
Relax on the water then head up to the Auburn Inn or Sirna’s Pizza for dinner, and check out 8thdaybrewingcompany or reithoffers for after-dinner entertainment!
