We are finally starting to see consistent panfish move into the shallows! I have been taking groups out daily and doing very well on nice eater-sized fish with an abundant amount of trophy-size fish included. The walleye bite continues to be strong, with many resorts seeing consistent limits. I have a cabin available the first week of January. If you would like to come, please call me at 715-570-5140.

The Walleye bite continues to be very consistent! I have been taking groups to Upper Red Lake consistently and doing well on almost every trip. Fishing on local lakes continues to be tough. Panfish are very spooked and seem hesitant at times to bite. We have been catching a few big bluegills, but only at dark.

The season has officially begun! Things have started slow on the fishing side. Bluegills and crappies have been highly skittish due to clear water and clear ice. We have been going to Upper Red Lake the last few days and are doing well on walleyes!

We are currently at 9 inches of ice on most lakes in northern Minnesota. At the resort, we have all our rental houses, including my glacier fish house.

Minnesota winter is quickly upon us! The month of December is like Christmas to ice fishermen. Not only are the fish shallow, but they are starving. Little pressure allows me to target larger panfish that generally would not bite. That only means one thing: another fantastic ice fishing season! With years of fishing experience fishing in the Blackduck area, I have honed my skills and acquired extensive knowledge of the best fishing spots, techniques, and seasonal patterns. Winter storm Elliot was no joke! We were stuck out on the lake in some of the most wild conditions I have endured.

Now that the storm has passed and we are able to evaluate lake conditions we have observed around 14-16 inches of ice in most places. The resort has been very full with lots of wheelhouses in the area.

We are in full swing in northern Minnesota! Most places have approximately 13-16 inches of ice across the lake. We are driving full size trucks around the lake with zero issues.

Fishing has been exceptionally well given the cold conditions. We have found panfish from 25 ft of water all the way to 7 feet. Big fish have brought many big smiles this week for friends and clients!😁
