Picture for attention
In need of some advice or if I am on the right track this might be kind of long winded
White lightening gave me all kinds of issues alittle over a month ago all due to the ground wire going to cap was loose inside the connector did some work to get it in the trailer and got it home
Runs great at idle but when you hold it at 2k or above while in neutral it starts breaking up, when on the road it cruises fine with little throttle but when you give it the beans starts to breaking up, doesn’t matter 3/4 or WOT
She’s been sitting in the trailer since largely because Amy’s car took a dump aswell that week and it taking up its garage spot this whole time getting worked on
So it took me some time to find that the wire was loose in the connector but got that seated back where it needed to be, coil ohms are right where they need to be, cap and rotor looked good, replaced the module because I felt like after that it’s probably not happy after the ground issue
At that same time I replaced the starter because when it had that issue when trying to start it was acting like it was way advanced and trying kick the motor backwards, bent the starter bolts but replaced the starter anyways since i was there and didn’t know if it was compromised
Alternator because the rear bearing cap said see ya the f later later
Discover the the secondaries were dripping fuel so pulled bowls off the carb cleaned everything and replace the needle and seat, adjusted to proper level no more drips
Which I thought might be part of my problem but has not changed since doing so
Checked for vacuum leaks and came up with nothing
Tac bounces around and occasionally drops to zero, it’s a cheap one so wouldn’t be suprised if it’s trash anyways…
I’ve tried everywhere from 9-20* initial timing with vac advance unhooked no change it the behavior it seemed to like the higher initial but still was breaking up,
when I put the motor in I did verify the make is in the right spot for tdc so balancer is good.
Makes no differance on how it behaves with vac advance disconnected or not
Starting to think maybe the distributor is compromised!? Maybe time for a new dizzy!?
This was not an issue before the issue with the ground fiasco
Not sure where my vacuum gauge is at the moment but when I find that I will check things with that
I did the needle and seat today, checked and adjusted idle circuit, float level, made sure the accelerator pump was in proper adjustment, played with the timing.
I was hoping to cruise up to harmar with jack tonight in it since the car has litterially only made 1 trip to my work this summer and has been in the trailer since, but she back in in the box and backed in the driveway since im stuck again
O yeah details, sbc 400(stock maybe a cam I was told wasn’t sure) 750 Holley vac secondaries, procomp hei dist,
