Turtle tracks…

Announcing the Final Count: 💥 TWO HUNDRED THIRTY SEVEN NESTS!!! 🐢 These include all the nests on the Atlantic Ocean main beach and the nests that were laid on Mitchelville and Fish Haul Beach on the Port Royal Sound. Take a look at how Sea Turtle Patrol keeps track of nests on HHI! The different colors of dots and squares allow us to categorize and keep track of false crawls, original nest locations, final nest locations, and hatched and then inventoried nests. WHEW!!!! HHI has not had any nesting female turtle activity for just over two weeks. Therefore, nesting season on HHI is considered to be over. Our final nest count for the 2025 season is 237 nests! FYI: there are just under 50 nests still incubating on the island.
