South Course
Hole by Hole Posting
June 1st - July 13th
Dear Member,
Top Line:
We need your help! From June 1 through July 13, please post all of your South Course scores to GHIN using the Hole-by-Hole method. This will allow us to collect meaningful data to properly evaluate the difficulty of each hole and assign accurate stroke handicaps on the new scorecard.
In 2026, we will need to update our scorecard due to the current renovation of the North Course.
For Those Who Want to Know More:
Why This Matters
In preparation for new scorecards for the South Course, and one of the most important components is ensuring that each hole is correctly handicapped. The stroke index (the 1-18 ranking on each hole) helps determine where strokes are given during play, particularly in match play and net formats. Some members have felt that certain holes-Hole 10 is a frequent example-don't reflect the true difficulty of the course.
I asked the Golf Board and a number of members to rate the handicaps by hole on the South Back Nine based on their specific game. As you would imagine, many feel that current hole handicaps are not accurate. Hole 10 is the common example. So, we request your detailed input to help us finalize.
Rather than relying solely on subjective input, we want to make these decisions using real data from actual rounds played by members. That is where you come in.
What You Can Do
Between June 1 and July 13, every time you play the South Course, please post your score on GHIN using the Hole-by-Hole method. This allows us to collect detailed information on how each hole is playing for our membership. The goal is to collect approximately 4,000 rounds during this time.
The more data we collect, the more accurate the new stroke allocations will be.

What Happens Next?
The South Course will close for maintenance on July 14, and after that, the Golf Committee and staff will review all the data. Based on your submissions, we'll make final decisions on stroke allocation and determine if we need to make adjustments prior to ordering scorecards this Fall, which would arrive in January 2026.
And the North Course?
While we're focused on the South Course now, we'll turn our attention to the North Course later this year. It's scheduled to be re-rated by the South Carolina Golf Association in the fall. The North course rating will be most likely based off of the rating from the SC Golf Association which can be revised in the future with member input similar to what is needed now on the South course.
Thank You!
We truly appreciate your participation and support in helping us make data-driven decisions to enhance our golf experience.
