Gator Fans
First of all, I would like to apologize for the communication breakdown between the Gator program and the Rec Center. The Rec staff has made a mistake, which is unacceptable.
Ray, Trish, and Bob will work as a team to coordinate the program this season. Bob and I will be at the field today to answer questions.
Although I am not supportive of playing in the Georgia League this season because of COVID-19, I'm willing to try. I think there is too much uncertainty and traveling out of the community puts the players, parents, and others at risk. (I'm not opposed looking at this league next year once COVID has settled down.)
I believe what is best for he growth of the program ths year, is to stay home and play either 7-on7 full contact, flag or a combination of both and flag would help us bring new players
to the game.
Workouts will be moving to Barkers Field beginning Wednesday, August 12 at the same time.
Equipment.....the helmetsere sent for reconditioning back in Feburary and due to COVID, it's
going to be at least another 10 days before return. Of the ninety-plus sent only 34 are useable.
We are working with the rep to track down new helmets.
The registration will be available at the Rec Center's website by this Friday at noon
(islandreccenter.org) Players will need verification of the State ID before registration
will be accepted. (This is a requirement of the Georgia League) (http://scdmvonline.com/Driver-Services/identification-Cards #) The registration deadline
will be Friday, September 4. After September 4, we'll let everyone know about the direction of the program for the fall season.
Please call me with any questions at 843-683-7203.
Again, I sorry for the lack of communication from the Rec Center. Thanks, Frank
