“The North Carolina Amateur Showcase” has officially been canceled.
Canceling a tournament is never an easy pill to swallow. Certainly so when it is one as loved as the Am Showcase. However, the impending weather with hurricane Debbie presents a very gloomy situation. Louisburg is known for holding water after bad weather, some of you have already noticed standing water on the course from a rain we had last week. Couple that with the 6-10” of rain we are predicted to get this week and you can see where the fear comes in.
What the rain will do:
Cause several areas on both courses to be unplayable.
Prevent the city from being able to mow the courses due to risk of getting stuck.
Prevent me from being able to get baskets set out on the temp course
Cause temp tee pads to have terrible and potentially dangerous footing.
Prevent painted OB lines from being consistent and easily defined.
I will begin to issue refunds immediately after sending this email. I wanted to try and give people enough time to cancel reservations they have made for lodging, travel, and work arrangements if necessary.
As far as the Basket Bashers North Carolina Amateur Tour is concerned. The tour series will now be cut to 5 events (instead of 6) and we will take your top 3 events for scoring instead of your top 4. The $500 of added payout to each event provided by MVP Disc Sports will be applied to the Finale at Acorn Hill. Meaning the Finale will now have $1000 of added payout instead of the original $500.
